Op-eds that bring unique perspectives to light


Leah has published 8 op-eds on topics ranging from tenants’ lives after a building fire to reparations for Black New Yorkers. Her writing infuses her grassroots experience as a legal aid tenants’ rights attorney to discuss issues that often go unnoticed. In 2023, Teen Vogue recognized an op-ed Leah co-authored with movement lawyer Olayemi Olurin as one of the best op-eds of the year.

Professionalism as a Racial Construct

In 2022, Leah Goodridge published Professionalism as a Racial Construct in UCLA Law Review which is:

  • Taught at Harvard Law School and 20+ universities

  • Cited in federal court decision, Pryor v. School District 1

  • Used in judicial training to teach judges about cultivating accessible courtrooms

  • Centered at a conference Stanford Law School organized to celebrate its impact and influence

  • Featured in Forbes, Time, Dame, The Grio and Teen Vogue magazines

A well-cited law review article on public housing

In 2016, Leah Goodridge co-authored a law review article that explored the constitutional implications of a policy where public housing residents faced eviction for an arrest before the alleged criminal activity was proven in court. Shortly after publication, Duke Law School invited Leah to its Symposium to give a presentation on the article. Today, the article has been referenced in more than 12 academic journals.

At 17 years old, Leah published a book chapter on her experience dealing with grief.
